Ezekiel Jay’s Holiday Letter

guitartreesmallWell, here it is, my holiday newsletter. Picture me in a bad festive sweater, drinking eggnog and leaning dangerously close to a burning fireplace while I read this to you.

I’ll keep it short and sweet, I promise. First, I want to thank you for being a part of my life this past year. Thank you for being with me on this journey, for sending me opportunities, for coming to shows, for listening to the record, and for encouraging me to keep going. Thank you for trusting that I’m in this for the long haul. It’s cliche but it’s true: I couldn’t have done it without you!

And what I did was a lot: I released a record and I formed a rockin band. Thank you to Ryan and Brock for bringing it on stage every time and thanks to all the other sometime Ezekiel Jay Band players who have been up there with me- Toby, Cole, Justin, Brandon, John, Wil…

I have also continued to play and write with DnT and I am proud of what we are creating together for the upcoming studio album. And the latest news is that I ran out of money and went out and got a full time job in engineering again. I’ve been working for a month now, and it’s actually not that bad. Except for the commute; I am gonna hate that forever.

Though I haven’t done a lot in the last part of this year as far as live shows, I did attend the TAXI Road Rally in LA last month which was huge for me. I took some classes on the craft of songwriting and on the business side of music. And even though I realize I have so much to learn, I felt a sense of belonging in being among these long-time songwriters. Please check out the work of some amazing people that I met that weekend: Marty Pawlina, Rob Heath, Mark Shields, Daisy, O’Connor and Shawnee Kilgore.

One more thing. I wrote and recorded Christmas song and I bet it makes you smile. You can listen here: http://ezekieljay.bandcamp.com/track/christmas-rebel
If you like it, share it!

Have a great Christmas and New Year! May happiness be with you for the rest of the year and into 2013.
